節分,Tokyo

I think I'm actually getting old that I am actually enjoying traditional events to keep it happen. Throwing beans at home to welcome gods and keep away evil on Setsubun Day (the Spring Day Festival) was a total ridicule for me, but now, I yell out "Oni wa soto (Go away evil!)" as my whole neighbor can hear. I buy beans two weeks ahead so that I wouldn't forget about it and throw them even at my office knowing that I have to sweep them again. Of course, I don't believe that dried soy beans keep evils out, yet I feel happy to have a part in keeping that tradition going. Yes, I am getting old.
