定食屋に行って、チャーハンにレバニラ炒め、餃子を食べて、さらに帰り道メロンパンとアイスクリームを買い食いする。これは昔の僕の標準だった。牛乳は1リットルパックそのまま一気飲みだし、スイカも半分くらいは食べてたと思う。男は食べれれば食べれる程男らしいと思っていたし、食べっぷりが良いと褒められるのは、好い男だと言われるようで嬉しかった。今でも食べることは大好きだけど昔みたいにはとても食べられない。アメリカ人の常食ステーキは、かつて僕の憧れだった筈だけど、今は見て楽しむだけで満足だ。

Food is one of the most interesting aspects of a culture.
As I’ve mentioned before, I always try any kind of food in strange land, no matter how strange it looks.
But I never imagined visiting a steak house in Texas could be so culturally interesting.
I mean, I thought I was used to steak. Yet, this dynamic size of the T-bone meat and the potato knocked me down. No, it wasn’t the same old `Large` steak I order in Tokyo. Oh, it was humongous! But then again, nothing fits our size in the States. I am the XS-sized Japanese…
