河川には人工的に造られた物も在るけれど、本来は自然の地形に因って形造られたのだ。
山野へと集まる雨水が、池や沼になって谷沢へと下り河となる。そして海へ注ぎ又、山野へ雨を降らす。
森林を育てたりして、生き物の生態系を支える根幹だが、我が家の近くの川辺は、人工的工作物で埋め尽くされ、生命維持装置で命ばかりが繋がれた様な神田川が静かに流れている。
その存在のみが自然の痕跡である事が皮肉にさえ見える。今日もその流れに雨が注いでいる事だろう。

Rivers in Tokyo are just like gigantic drain pipes. They are all cemented and flow in a perfect straight line to the bay. But these are still “not so bad” rivers that water access to the outer world. There are “not so good” rivers that are invisible. Street name still owns “XXX River” name but they are no where to be seen, that they are underground rivers that are completely covered by concrete for cars and people to run over by.
