東京もとうとう梅雨入りしたようだ。少年・佐藤勝治にとっては気象庁の梅雨明け宣言がお正月より待ち焦がれる事だった。水泳の授業が楽しみで、本当は雨が降っても泳ぎたかった。西瓜がとにかく大好きで、1個丸々独り占めするのが夢だった。そんな僕は大学生になっても何だか真っ黒に灼けて日本人離れした姿で夏を過ごしていた。
今でも梅雨が明けるのを待ち焦がれる気持ちは変わらない。西瓜を独り占めしたい気持ちも変わらない。
終わりなき夏だ！
When I was a kid, summer vacation was truly an endless paradise. Sitting idly at my grandmother’s balcony with slices of watermelon, my sister and I used to spend hot sweaty summer hours as if it would never end. Then I suddenly realized summer is the shortest season when I started to work full time. I was quite shocked to realize that I never got sweaty because my body felt the sun only during the short lunch break. From then, I decided to seriously chase the blink of summer. Tank tops and short pants are my dear friends despite this rainy season.
