I Look Up When I Walk Down,Tokyo

「都会の夜景を見下ろせる高級マンション」そんな売り文句の不動産広告がメディアに引っ切り無しに登場している。
「都会の夜景とは、毎日見たくなるような物かな？」まさに都会の景色を見下ろしながら妻君が言った。
確かに、緑の見えないその風景に季節の変化を読み取る事は容易ではなく、季節の移ろいを感じさせるのは空の色と雲の形ばかりだと思った。たまに見れば煌びやかな都会の夜景も毎日、毎夜見ているとむしろ変化に乏しいつまらない景色なのかも知れない。それでもその天蓋を覆う空の変幻自在の自然の美しさは僕達の疲れた心を励ましてくれる。高級マンションのペントハウスに住むことより上を向いて歩く事の方が僕には現実的なようだ。

As I was sitting on my couch, looking down at the endless buildings of Tokyo, I questioned why so may people like “the city night view” ads. Real estate ads praise for a penthouse with “the city night view”. But is it really that beautiful? Or, is it that beautiful enough that you want to see it everynight from your living room window? City dreams often ends in vain, so short-lived. People gather around light bulbs like insencts and see the empty city at a dawn. I’d rather enjoy the never ending sky over the city.
